The challenge was, Nutrisystem, which is a weight loss program based on quality foods and a nutritionally balanced meal plans, giving support and knowledge to their customers allowing them to reach their goal weight. Nutrisystem wanted to introduce a new line of “Skinny Bitch” chocolate bars as a prize to give away for the members that reached their monthly goals.

For the opportunity to be able to break into the competitive candy industry a more distinguishing and stand out design was necessary. The Skinny Bitch chocolate bar line was inspired by the NY Times Best Seller “Skinny Bitch” by Rory Freedman. The names of each chocolate bar illustrates the personality of each women and the flavor of the bar. Fun, motivational typographic messaging was used on the back of the chocolate bar packaging to communicate to the members of Nutrisystem and inspire them to feel good about their progress.

What’s Unique?
I believe as designers, the most challenging thing for us to do is to come up with an idea and figure out how to differentiate it from products, campaigns, packagings, etc. that exist out there in the world. As I mention in the project description, I would say the style and the typographic messaging is what makes these chocolate bars unique. Each bar includes a fashionista style/sketch with different types of animal pattern. These patterns compliment the names of each bar.
