The world is full of wine. Still we believe that one can be surprised with authentic wines from unlikely terroirs and grape varieties. Wines that take one travelling to surprising places.
Such as Penada wines, born in a small family winery at Trás-os-Montes region (meaning behind the mountains, in Portuguese). An untapped old world wine region, even for those who are well aware of the quality wines of Portugal.
So, when Wine & Shine team was challenged by owner Marco Montez to create its brand concept and packaging, we though genuine, organic... but fun.
Penada wine labels were designed mainly for exports to the USA. With a simple graphic production, organic handcrafted look with rubber stamp, but unapologetic about the “strange” Portuguese naming and references – the vintage name “essay” and a harp, linking to the region Celtic roots. Together this helped differentiating these wines and raise curiosity among consumers.
