Tarot is a fictional, Vancouver-based wine brand, and a Friday night favourite inside urban circles of young females. Meshing wine with fantasy culture, the charming brand pours their quirky personality into a broad selection of white wine flavours—each accompanied by a corresponding Tarot card.
I developed a soft colour palette to flatter the natural lightness of white wine, and paint the feminine brand with daintiness. The typography pays homage to traditional 18th century Tarot cards, and brings a subtle edginess for a desirable contrast against the submissive palette. I hand crafted the logo, and each Tarot card, using ink, acrylic, and water colour, with a splash of digital retouching. To echo the brand’s quirky side, I positioned the logo vertically, following the natural shape of the bottle. On the contrary, a quiet, minimal design wraps around the body horizontally in order to showcase the eccentric card hanging from the neck. The vertical-horizontal layout extends to other branded material such as business cards and social media platforms.
Each bottle adopts a unique personality, pairing wine flavour with Tarot card meaning.
