1950s packaging design

Packaging is one of the most common example of graphic design and the history of packaging design goes right back to the early 19th century where iron and tin plated steel were used to make cans and then paperboard cartons and corrugated fiberboard boxes were first introduced in the late 19th century.

The pictures above shows some of the packaging from the 1950s. You'll be surprised to see some of brands actually maintained their design through the years, so that even after 50 years, you will still go like yep, thats Wrigley's chewing gums in that picture!
