Designed by Eric Hart, created during his Senior year in the Communications Design program at Syracuse University.

This is a re-branding project for an actual cosmetics company by the name of Komenuka Bijin, operating in Japan. The logo and packaging has been re-designed for a new audience. Komenuka Bijin is the brand and Sabi is the product line name I have given it.

The Japanese skin care company, Komenuka Bijin is looking to widen their market by making their line of natural skin cleansing products available to women in North America. Sabi is a set of all natural, rice bran skin cleansers. In Japanese, Sabi means, “beauty through aging.” The decision for using rice paper for the bottle wraps and wood for the boxed set was to follow the aesthetic of wabi-sabi; a belief that anomalies and imperfections add uniqueness and elegance to the object. This also reflects the state of mind of the women purchasing Sabi; aging with pride. The color palette is organic and warm and the subtle, gentle grain pattern reinforces the purity of the ingredient.
