Portnology is a specialty manufacturer making hardware products in the health and wellness sector. The California-based company came to GMTN for our strategic and user-centered approach to product development and packaging.

Portnology’s brief was to create a product that would address the need for a designed pill-dispenser for the increasing number of people taking nutraceutical supplements. Our challenge was to turn their strapline of ‘nutrition with a click’ into an attractive, functional product and to package it as a lifestyle solution for a highly discerning segment. The product had to work with the vast majority of supplement pills – no easy task given the vast array of pill types, shapes and sizes on the market.

Through several rounds of sketching, prototyping, testing sessions and numerous trans-atlantic Skype meetings, GMTN developed an intuitive, simple and pocket-sized product using refill cartridges; the Zuup – a lifestyle product for consumers who want an on-the-go and discreet pill dispenser. Zuup organizes and dispenses the daily intake of health products and ensures that “great health is just a click away”.

To ensure deliver a complete solution, we created vibrant packaging that embodied the look and feel of the product. Zuup appeals to the lifestyle aspirations for experience and exclusivity for demanding consumers in a fast moving health market.
