This final year undergraduate project focuses on the packaging design of the most famous Mezcal spirit, Skall, produced in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico.

Within recent years, many large Mezcal companies decided to improve the image of their packaging, while keeping a traditional Mexican aesthetic. By introducing contemporary packing design to their Mezcal products, companies have sought to attract more consumers, and compete on the international market.

The packaging design is derived from ‘Aztecan’ culture, interpreting its mysterious artistic language and then coupling this with the memory of Mezcals’ unique origin, taste, useage and touristic value. The synergy of these two design concepts, forms both a unique and contemporary packaging design for the Skall brand.
