After the initial launch of the Green Force Pharm brand in Tonasket Washington, there was immediate positive response in rural Eastern Washington. The leadership team wanted to rebrand to expand into Western Washington’s market– specifically the city of Seattle, as well as to better express the overall concept behind their identity’s thoughts on the cannabis industries’ transition to become more mainstream. This concept was described through the classic Star Wars battle between the rebels (local small business) and the empire (mainstream incorporation). The idea was not to overhaul the brand, but to help their small rural startup be more competitive in urban settings through the use of iconic metaphor and following the mainstream design trends of 2016 & 2017. In response to these new requirements, the logo and packaging was reconfigured to reflect the farm’s landscape while connecting it with the empire’s iconic Death Star, creating the storyline that Green Force’s rural rebel background will take over the mainstream cannabis industry from the inside. Instead of falling into the classic East versus West mentality that most small cannabis businesses fall into, this rebrand made the Green Force stronger in Washington state as a whole.

What’s Unique?
The most unique part of this project is the iconography and overall aesthetic’s ability to combine the rural roots this identity began with, with a mainstream and recognizable voice more urban audiences can gravitate toward. Bridging the gap between the cannabis industries’ more rural and dark past, and expanding it to more legal and mainstreamed legitimate business.
