BRINGING PERSONALITY TO PREMIUM RUM
Hattiers creates premium rums that are jovial and warm, just like its founder, Philip. Each bottle begins with an 8 year aged pot & column still blend, distilled from sugar cane molasses in Barbados. They then blend this with exceptional pot still rums from Guatemala, Panama and The Dominican Republic before adding pure Devon water.

THE PROJECT
Philip came to us with a big, bold idea for a family-run, British rum distillery that would take inspiration from his life and love of sailing. He wanted to create a brand from scratch that had integrity and fostered loyalty – values inspired by his family crest.

THE JOURNEY
We worked with Philip to design a highly premium brand and label, filled with nautical nods and secret messages. We explored stories that were personal to him, so we could incorporate these in a subtle way within the brand pattern. The logotype is inspired by wake lines left by a speeding boat, with the Hattiers ‘H’ being an abstraction of Philip’s own initials – the ultimate stamp of approval. The obvious shift in the main label represents breaking the mould, challenging the rum market and riding the wave to success.

THE OUTCOME
Hattiers launched at the end of 2018 and is already making waves. They have partnered with their neighbours, Luscombe, and can currently be found in bars across the country and in high-end establishments like Fortnum & Mason and John Lewis.

“Great, great, great! A real pleasure working with such an amazing team. Thank you Kingdom & Sparrow… you are tip top!” – Philip Everett-Lyons, Hattiers Founder
