Aska Reykjavik is a luxury Icelandic home-wares brand inspired by the unique and volatile landscape of Iceland. This packaging design is for a luxury teapot crafted from volcanic rock, accompanied by a booklet outlining the heritage and story of the Aska Reykjavik brand. The packaging takes the environment into consideration, using no glue and 100% recyclable materials for its construction.

Inspired by the landscape of Iceland, specifically the icy water-filled volcano Askja, the packaging features rich stocks of snowy white and dark navy used with a very restrained and clean approach. White ink is utilised to be cohesive with the colour scheme and is accented with spot UV for a luxury feel. An inner band of dark navy can be seen peeking out through the centre of the box, hinting at the layers within.

Imagery of rocks and of Iceland are dispersed between the packaging and the booklet to connect to the heritage of the brand and the unique materiality of the volcanic rock teapot. The booklet is a multi-layered experience designed to take the user on a journey of the story of the brand and the product.

What’s Unique?
This is environmentally-conscious luxury packaging, made entirely without glue or any adhesives. The box is constructed using origami and paper tabs out of entirely recyclable materials including the foam that holds the teapot in place. Elegance and luxury are not sacrificed for sustainability, rather they work together harmoniously. This design tries to consider the future of luxury packaging and design, as we move towards a more environmentally conscious society.
