Pringles - Student Concept

Design: Ananya Kaipa
Location: India
Project Type: Student Project
School: MIT Institute of Design
Packaging Contents: Potato Crisps
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paperboard, Tin and PP
Printing Process: Digital Printing

The current Pringles packaging had no brand language and no coherence except for the logo. This was changed, by giving the packaging a template and some structure with elements that change colour based on the flavour.

Also, the bottom chips are very inaccessible, and they crumble often. The overall iconic cylindrical packaging was retained. I added a simple dispensing unit, very similar to that of biscuits and cookies. The separations ensure that the crisps don't break or crumble under the weight and have sufficient support. Plus, they allow for metered consumption.

  • A definite brand language, with the bowtie and the Pringles chip being
  • common entities across all flavours.
  • The chip changes colours based on the flavour.
  • The bowtie and the background of the packaging change colours based on
  • the flavour.
  • The fonts used are constant.
  • The chips are made more accessible using a dispensing system with a tab to pull it out.
