Sarah Selecky Writing School is an online creative writing school that approaches writing as an art, and also as a contemplative practice. And it happens within a peer-based community that’s built on shared intellect, a spirit of generosity, and mutual respect; in order to refine promising talents and develop their skills, as well as to support them by issuing an annual volume of short stories selected from their works that have valuable goals.

The idea of designing the book cover is based on using the ” Neo-vintage ” trend through the effect of peeling in the repeated patterns of birds; due to this literary volume contains the best collection of short stories, and it won a competition called ” Little Birds Contest ” which is held annually by this institution for young talents and according to specific conditions to achieve fun and credibility among readers, in addition to a portion of each subscription goes towards the Pelee Island Bird ( PIBO ) which is a non-profit charitable organization devoted to the study and conservation of birds to maintain the ecological balance and biodiversity, one of the positive indicators is the safe return of migrating birds to their native habitat on Pelee Island, referred to in the cover design.

The Evolved patterns in the background by using the B letter, the first letter of the word ” Bird,” to represent the shape of a tree with multiple branches, implicitly suggesting that visual motifs are hand-drawn; for the subtle indication of suspense and mystery.

The shape of birds is based on the Grunge texture, which gives the effect of scribbling with peeling in some parts; by encrusting a piece of wallpaper and changing the tones of it to fit the background and make the design more attractive.

Synergy exists between visual and auditory modalities by activating an equalizer with the QR code on the right side of the back cover; so that once a mobile device is pointed at it the reader can hear the soft tones of bird sounds for more enjoyment while reading the stories and enhancing the multi-sensory experience.
