Sublimio

Branding Strategy & Design

Sakari is a 130 years-old sake brewery from Nishinomiya, Japan that combines a respect for nature and tradition with an experimental attitude. They are official suppliers to the Imperial Household of Japan.

Sakari is set on a challenging mission: bringing its product to the Western markets, less educated about the nuances and possibilities of this Japanese drink. Sublimio partnered with Sakari from day one, helping the brewery evolve its brand promise to match the Western mindset and workin on: brand strategy, brand identity, print and digital assets, copywriting, still life photography, bespoke web design and development, packaging and label design, social media content strategy and more.

Briefing
To stand out among sake brands in Europe, convincing the audience to consider sake as an everyday drink, a pairing for more than just Japanese food.

Solution
A brand positioning that challenges the stereotypes on Japan and sake, evoking the values of Japanese conviviality and the idea of balance between human and nature.

What’s Unique?
The mix of contemporary design and traditional and recognizable Japanese elements (pattern, colors, asymmetrical layout). Rigorous and yet playful, contemporary with a hint of tradition: the 5 product labels balance two sides of Japan.
