Mikasa Continental Cup Ball (Student Work)

Mara Rodríguez Design

Gijón, Asturias, España

Designed by Mara Rodríguez a Master in Packaging student, at Elisava School, Barcelona, Spain.

The aim of this work was to create a packaging for the Continental Cup’s ball (which is made by Mikasa brand), an important volleyball event that took part on June/July 2012.

We wanted to create something funny, as is a promotional pack, and we want it to make people being interested on the event.

We used the shape of the ball to simulate the back of the players, which is a very important part on this sport, as players show the strategy to they partner over back. This is something really caracteristic of this sport and volleyball lovers will recognize it easily.

We have represented two players, one on each size, simulating a beach volleyball coach. Also we have used big typography and corporate colors to give people the info about the brand and the caracteristics of the championship and the ball.

It is something different of what we are used to see on sport shops, and it will make people stop at the shop to give them a smile.
